Abstract

Cognitive graded course offers a change from the traditional teaching routines through which many learners have previously failed to communicate. It encourages the learners to communicate without fear by confidence-building and cognitive motivation tasks. The courses give importance to emotional intelligence by practicing value-added tasks. All the tasks are based on real life-like situations which develop curiosity to involve. Also the course includes virtual contexts that extend the wide innovative way for learning and using English. It gives much importance to cognitive skills that ease acquisition and use of communicative competence effectively. Based on the effectiveness of these cognitive graded courses, it is understood that these can be practiced wherever the condition and the environment are similar to that of the researcher.
Cognitive graded course provides much exposure to enhance communicative competence of the students in English. This course has created social and virtual contexts with interesting learning tasks to the students. Students acquired communicative competence along with cognitive strategies that enabled them to complete the tasks successfully by reasoning, analyzing and problem-solving skills.
Cognitive grading is meant for identifying the cognitive skills of thinking, analyzing, problem solving, memorizing capacities of the students and mainly for identifying their need, likes and dislikes over English language learning. Based on the needs, if the course is developed, it will be successful.
